At Allanton House we welcome volunteers to become involved in many aspects of our life. If you would like to discuss this with us, then please get in touch by calling 01387 740642 or emailing allanton@worldpeace-uk.org
Here are some of the things you might like to do:
Nithsdale Green Gym
The Nithsdale Green Gym volunteer gardening group meets at Allanton every Wednesday between 10am and 1pm and the Children’s Wildlife Garden can also be visited then.
We are proud of our beautiful wildlife garden at Allanton House, designed by children with the support of landscape artist John Kennedy, who made the children’s design a reality, ensuring that the elements within the design fitted into our historic walled garden.
Come and join in with our friendly group, making the environment a better place for wildlife.
What is a Green Gym?
Conventional gyms don’t appeal to everyone and the BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) support Green Gyms to offer people an alternative – the opportunity to improve their fitness by taking part in practical environmental projects in and around Nithsdale. You can find out more here.
Green Gyms are a great opportunity to get out and about, meet new people and learn new skills in a relaxed, fun, social environment, while hopefully burning off some extra calories at the same time.
People of all ages and abilities are welcome to come along and there is always a range of activities available to allow people to exercise at a level that suits them. Projects are run in three-hour sessions. Refreshments and all tools and equipment are provided.
