Caroline lived in Japan for 20 years, where she came across the message May Peace Prevail on Earth on Peace Poles. She was deeply moved by this pure selfless intention and wanted to spread this message in Europe especially. She moved back to Scoland in 1998 to be the Director of Allanton World Peace Sanctuary.
Finance and Admin
Chris is an agriculturalist with a working background in business development. His key responsibilities for Allanton Sanctuary are finance and administration. He loves the team environment and the opportunity to support the fantastic work carried out by his colleagues.
Glenda has been part of the Allanton team since 2001 and during that time has been involved in all aspects of management and development. Her specialism is education - writing and managing the 'Peace Prevails' school programme. She is also responsible for the marketing and promotion of the Annual Peace Festival and the development of our Soul of WoMen event.
Jess is responsible for the logistics and delivery of the Peace Pole orders. On Wednesday's she also manages our volunteer programme in the garden and on Friday's she's responsible for the development of our Forest School programme. She is also actively involved in the running of Allanton's annual events calendar.
Jolanda has a very varied work background and a wide interest in spirituality and well-being. At Allanton, she is responsible for creating a beautiful and friendly atmosphere in the house and to assure visitors have all they need for a comfortable stay here.
PEACEPOLE MAKER AND CHEF
Yasunori Uchima, known as Uma to all, is originally from Japan, and now lives in Scotland. He has the important job of being Allanton’s Peace Pole Maker.
He also works as chef and is one of the key staff members for all events and projects. He is vital to the smooth running of Allanton and supports the team in whatever may need doing.
GARDENER AND VOLUNTEER
John is our resident gardener, storyteller and occasional circus skills instructor. You will find him here from 10am on Wednesdays, our volunteers' day, luring people into the vegetable garden and poly-tunnel with promises of digging, muck-spreading, seed sowing, transplanting, composting,
leaf-moulding, harvesting, tea-breaking and other outdoor delights - something for everyone.
HOUSE KEEPER AND CHEF
Slavomira (Swavvie) is the housekeeper and a wonderful cook. She expresses her love and creativity through cooking for the guests, volunteers, visitors and staff at Allanton.
Donald Kerr is the Allanton Handy Man. He looks after the maintenance of the house and grounds. He doesn’t like to throw things away, and is very happy when he is giving new life and usage to old bits and pieces through recycling and up-cycling.
